DAY ONE Rennes/Mont St Michel

We will rendezvous in the plaza in front of the Rennes Gare after 14.00, and make our way through the rolling fields to the comfort of our ‘home in Normandy’, a charming chateau near Mont St. Michel.

Here you can settle in, walk the grounds and unwind before we meet for aperos and dinner in-house.

DAY TWO Mont St Michel

After petit dejeuner, we are out the door to the Abbey of Mont St Michel. This day is dedicated to you and the Abbey, and includes a 1.5 hour private tour.

From the cobblestone paths that circle the Abbey, to those that take you all the way to the cloister gardens and l’eglise en haut, (the high chapel), satisfaction for reaching this destination is all yours.

Stop for lunch at one of the many cafes to choose from on ‘the rock’ including the famous Mere Poulard

The open afternoon allows you to linger, perhaps spend reflective time in a newly-discovered quiet spot, or take in the well-stocked book store. We will depart the Abbey mid-afternoon to return to our chateau for rest, aperos and dinner.

DAY THREE Bayeux/D-Day Beaches

This morning we depart our chateau, and head north through the hills of Normandy to Bayeux, where we will spend the next two nights, situated in the heartland of the Normandy Invasion.

Our accommodation, Chateau Bellefontaine, is a 10-minute walk from the famous Bayeux Tapestry. Time has been set aside this morning for you to visit the museum, and follow the tapestry’s extraordinary depiction of the Norman Conquest.

Discover an inviting brasserie, indulge in one of many pâtisseries or have a Bayeux walkabout to take in the impressive cathedral, haunts and shops that abound.

DAY FOUR Normandy Beaches

This tour has many once-in-a-lifetime destinations and, of course, must include the D-Day Beaches.

It’s difficult to overestimate the impact that coming to the Beaches has on everyone who makes the journey here, and millions do. We want to give it the day, so we’ll head out after petit dejeuner with an experienced guide who will show you, start to finish, the lay of the lands.

Picnic lunch is included.

Your tour this day will include Pont du Hoc, Vierville sur Mer/Omaha Beach, and Colleville sur Mer, home of the American Cemetery, but if you are keen on one in particular — or a specific aspect of the Invasion — please let us know. Your guide can answer all questions.

This is a full day tour. We will return to the comfort of our surroundings and relax into our evening meal.

Day FIVE San Malo

We have the breadth of the Baie to cover, as we head back through Normandy. From Bayeux, we will come back towards the Abbey and stop in the gateway town of Pontorson for lunch.

Here you can enjoy the Normandy cider, galettes and dessert crêpes before we set out on the coastal road of the Baie, direction San Malo.

We will check into Le Nouveau Monde, in the heart of San Malo. Le Nouveau Monde sits right on the waterfront and promenade, and offers spectacular views from your room.

This afternoon intramuros — or inside the formidable stone walls of the fortress city — you’ll find dozens of fine boutique shops, all tucked in closely on old cobbled streets.

A promenade along the ancient ramparts, looking out to sea? Breathtaking.

DAY SIX Cancale

We depart San Malo at a leisurely pace, and make our way to our final destination, the small, ancient fishing village of Cancale.

You can walk the streets, shop, find a lunchtime restaurant — or perhaps shuck your own oysters down at the boat ramp, with a bottle of chilled white in-hand.

Early afternoon, we head up the cliffs overlooking the Baie, and settle into our accommodation at Chateau Richeux, including the in-house Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Coquillage.

Seafront Dining In-House.

DAY SEVEN Rennes

This morning after petit dejeuner, we gather ourselves to bid adieu, and transfer to the Rennes Gare.
