My own personal France itinerary for a week through the south has me sitting in the middle of it all, journaling from Mirepoix …

I’ll be heading east from Rennes to Tours, then south, Direction Limoges … overnight stopover in a chambres d’hôtes, so that I can take the time to be ‘captured in non-time’ with the memorial that remains in the small village of Oradour-sur-Glane, Haute-Vienne to pay homage to those lost in 1944 …

There are untold articles and books about the atrocity, but much like visiting the Holocaust Museum in Berlin or the American Cemetery at the D-Day Landing beaches in Normandy, one finds their own way through the morass.

But this is only halfway to my destination: My France Itinerary continues into the south where I will be stationed for a week near Mirepoix, a tiny medieval village in the cœur of so much ancient history — not to mention the Cathars — that I can only imagine what each day will bring.

Sitting pretty with the freshest pick of Mirepoix, from brocantes, boutiques and vide greniers, to sacred sites including Mont Segur, on to Carcassonne and further afield heading east … the list goes on … à bientôt – ici dans les pages de ce voyage dans la patrie … see you soon, here in the pages of this journal into the homeland.
